We believe that healthy communities and a healthy planet go hand in hand. Through innovative programs and grassroots initiatives, we're building a sustainable future together.
To empower communities with the tools, knowledge, and resources needed to build resilient, healthy, and sustainable futures in the face of climate change.
A world where every community has the freedom and capacity to thrive sustainably, with equitable access to health, nutrition, clean energy, and thriving ecosystems.
Equity, empowerment, sustainability, community leadership, systemic thinking, and transparency guide everything we do.
Freedom is the Foundation of Resilience. We drive systemic change at the intersection of health, climate, energy, woman empowerment and ecosystems.
Systemic change happens at the intersection of health, food, energy, and ecosystems. Our four-pillar framework creates lasting impact by addressing root causes, not just symptoms.
Climate resilience cannot be achieved through isolated interventions. When we improve mobility for women, we also reduce emissions and increase economic participation. When we promote plant-based diets, we improve health outcomes and reduce carbon footprints.
Our integrated approach recognizes that health, food security, energy access, and ecosystem health are deeply interconnected. By addressing all four pillars simultaneously, we create synergies that multiply impact and build true resilience.
This holistic strategy validates our "systemic change" narrative for partners and donors, demonstrating how community-level interventions can drive transformative, sustainable outcomes.
Our approach transforms broken systems at the grassroots through four interconnected pillars—a model designed for global adaptation and local leadership.
Horizons empowers communities to live healthier lives while building resilience to climate change. We address the critical intersection of health, food, energy, climate, woman empowerment and ecosystems through integrated, community-led solutions.
Four interconnected pillars driving systemic change in communities
Social Equity & Energy (Shifting Power & Emissions)
Enables safe, harassment-free mobility for women and girls via tech-based, low-carbon three-wheelers/scooters, simultaneously reducing urban emissions and increasing economic participation.
“Empowering Women to Drive Change"
Health & Carbon Footprint
Promotes plant-based nutrition, reduced food waste, and active transportation (walking/cycling) to combat common health issues while cutting carbon emissions from diet and transit.
“Local Solutions, Global Impact”
Energy & Affordability
Educates households on energy efficiency and provides basic retrofits (LEDs, efficient appliances). This program reduces energy bills, combats energy poverty, and cuts community-wide emissions.
“Knowledge is Power”
Food & Ecosystems
Establishes youth- and women-led hubs for composting, urban gardens, and carbon literacy. These projects build local food security, divert organic waste from landfills, and foster environmental stewardship.
“From Waste to Worth”
In urban communities across our service areas, women faced daily harassment and safety concerns using public transportation. Our tech-enabled, low-carbon three-wheeler program has transformed lives.
Soon, many individuals will have the opportunity to operate their own electric three-wheelers. This won’t just be a job — it will represent freedom, financial independence, and a chance to contribute to cleaner, healthier cities.
Through the Voomogo Model, more than 10,000 women will gain access to safe mobility, while urban emissions are expected to be reduced by 5,000 tonnes of CO₂ .
Estimated number of women who could benefit from mobility programs 10,000+
Potential CO₂ emissions reduced (in tonnes) 5,000
Expected capacity building programs for energy efficiency enhancement 2,500
Estimated number of composting hubs planned for establishment 75
Communities expected to be reached 50+
Systemic Change: This isn't just a collection of programs—it’s a connected, community-driven path to resilience, dignity, and climate justice. We shift power by turning women and youth into owners, generating stable income and systemic agency, proving a scalable model for urban equity.
Community Served: We serve low-income women and their families living in informal urban areas—communities where cultural norms and unsafe transport block access to income, health, and decision-making power. When women move safely, the entire community's resilience is activated.
Our Allies: We are planning to work with global, regional, and local organizations that share our vision for systemic change, including Ministry of Environment, CARE Egypt, The American University in Cairo (AUC), Climate Resilience Fund and the Sawiris Foundation.
